SeedPlanter Group's mission is to inspire wellness through therapeutic horticulture, herbal wisdom, and nature-based practices. Rooted in faith and grounded in nature, we provide tools that support health, growth, and personal transformation.

Our vision is to cultivate environments where individuals and communities experience the restorative power of nature—deepening their connection with God, the land, and the wisdom already present in the soil, the seed, and within themselves.

Carol Hunter

Meet Carol Hunter

Carol Hunter is a horticultural therapy practitioner, community herbalist, and master gardener whose lifelong relationship with plants has grown into a powerful pathway for helping people thrive. After more than 20 years in corporate and nonprofit leadership, she followed her calling to guide people into meaningful, nature-based experiences that support emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Grounded equally in horticultural therapy and community herbalism, Carol’s work honors the wisdom of plants, the body’s

natural capacity for balance, and the importance of accessible,

relationship-centered wellness. Since earning her Horticultural Therapy Practitioner certification in 2018—and completing her Community Herbalism certification in 2025 —she has led workshops, retreats, and healing experiences across the Southeast, including Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida.

As founder of the SeedPlanter Group, Carol partners with mission-driven leaders and organizations to cultivate programs that nourish people and strengthen communities. Her approach blends hands-on plant experiences, herbal consultations and education, and decades of leadership experience to create spaces where individuals can slow down, reconnect, and grow with intention.

Carol is a member of the American Horticultural Therapy Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Renaissance Church of Christ. When she’s not teaching or designing therapeutic experiences, she can be found blending herbal teas and medicine or preparing vibrant meals inspired by the food she grows at home.

Carol believes that everyone has the capacity to grow—and she invites you to discover what becomes possible when you partner with nature.

Horticultural Therapy is...

Planting
Flower Selection
Hanging Herbs

Horticultural Therapy (HT) is the intentional use of plants and gardening activities by a trained therapist to support health and well-being. Rooted in ancient traditions and supported by modern science, this therapeutic practice helps individuals enhance their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being through hands-on connection with nature.

In today’s fast-paced world—where many spend most of their time indoors or in front of screens—Horticultural Therapy offers a restorative experience. It gently reconnects people with the rhythms of the natural world, encouraging mindfulness, movement, and growth.

Whether tending to a plant, sowing seeds, or simply engaging in a sensory garden experience, participants in HT sessions often experience reduced stress, improved mood, increased focus, and a renewed sense of purpose. The work is adaptable and meaningful for people of all ages and abilities, including those recovering from illness or injury, managing stress, anxiety, and mental health challenges, or seeking greater social connection.

  • Meaning and Purpose: Engaging in gardening can foster a sense of purpose and accomplishment, leading to increased self-esteem and self-worth.

  • Spiritual Healing: Nurturing plants and caring for oneself through horticultural activities aids in the process of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual healing.

  • Overcoming Trauma: Horticultural therapy can empower individuals to move beyond shame and trauma, helping them reclaim their lives and find their rightful place in the world.

  • Mindfulness and Presence: The practice naturally encourages mindfulness, which involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment. This sensory immersion can quiet mental chatter and bring a sense of calm and centeredness.
